Inktober 2016 Sketches
Every year in October the artworld seems to think in black and white only. The idea behind it is to create 31 sketches done in ink alone for the duration of October. It has been the first time for me to contribute. A lot of work, but the rewards are remarkable. I completely fell in love with ink, I can’t help it.
Before I started contributing, I did a lot of sketching with ballpoint pen. In a way it’s similar to ink, still tough to work with properly, but not as tough as ink. In Ink, I’m forced to think about what I do before I apply the stroke. And once it’s there, it will stay there. No going back.
In comparison, when working in pencil I tend to work softly, finishing very slowly. Because of that, I tend to lose focus before I’m done. In Ink, I will think longer, but draw faster once I know what I want to do. Exciting and fun!
